Is another Nithari in process : Reports indicats it!!

A Report from Nithari: Another more hideous incidence is taking place

(Background: There has been massacre of kids and girls at the Village of Nithari of Noida, UP. In this most hideous act, around forty kids and girls were raped and killed; many skeletons and body parts were discover right from the drain of the crowded Nithari. More details are on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noida_Serial_Killings )

A team of eight members of Bharat Uday Mission went to investigate the post incident actions and government response to affected families of the Nithari massacre. This team was constituted to find out ground realities, which are mention in RTI replies from the Superintendent of Police, City, NOIDA and National Commission for women.[1] These applications were filed by Bharat Uday Mission, Delhi.

During whole day investigation and examination of ground realities, team found that another homicide is taking place at very same place of earlier one. Eight more children are reported missing from the very proximity of the ‘Khuni Kothi’ of Nithari.

Here are some shocking facts we found:

  1. Most of Nithari massacre victims were kids of poorest migrants who came here for their livelihood. Team found migrants of this locality are from Murshidabad and adjoin districts of west Bengal and are in very despair condition of poverty and vulnerability.
  2. According to victims’ families, local administration is not treating them well; a kind of fear prevails among them. They are very much helpless and their family is vulnerable to any crime.
  3. After giving compensations to some, administration is satisfied with their duty and ignored the whole trauma and sufferings of these families.
  4. Even the behaviors of local land lords are very hostile to these migrants who do daily wages, house works to sustain their families.
  5. Around 12-15 police personnel are deployed at the D5 (Khuni Kothi) who are there to protect the bungalow, they have nothing to do with the safety of local kids or families of victims.
  6. The most striking and shocking fact team found was missing of more children from vary same locality. People reported that at least ten children have gone missing during last two months and police has no clue about any of them. Mr. D.K. Yadav. SHO, Police station Sec. 20 (Nithari comes under them) also accepted this fact in front of team.
  7. Surprisingly, all these missing incidents are taking place right from the place where the most heinous crime of recent history of country against children is committed just few months ago.
  8. Team met the mother of post Nithari victim Shefali, she is 15 years old girl missing from 19th of March 2007 and police have no clue about her. She is one of the several other children who are missing since last months.
  9. After contacting to police station, we fond that only complaint was registered, No FIR was found to be registered, however Mr SHO tried to convince that they accept the complaint only for missing persons and treat as FIR.
  10. The attitude of local police was found very non responsible and hostile on this issue. It is very inhumane act of police, local administration and government that the children of poor are still missing from same place.

Case study of Post Nithari missing: Shefali Haldar, 15 years, female

The family of this poor girl came just two months ago from district of Murshidabad in search for their livelihood. He father Mr. Tulsi Haldar started doing Rickshaw pulling while her mother has to work as housemaid in order to sustain the family of six. To meet family need this girl was also working as house helper at house of Brig. Bahl, a retire army officer. Shefali was unknown to the way from her work place to her home at Nithari as her family was still new to this place. On 19th March 2007, afternoon Shifali went missing from her work place.

While investing this case, the mother of Shefali, Mrs Haldar was with team. Team investigated the role of Police and their efforts. Police station, the locality where shefali worked and Nithari: all these places were visited carefully.

Some unanswered questions:

- How such mass killings of near about forty children were framed at a crowded locality?

- Why investigating agencies was not looking beyond the prime accused? Because, one or two person can not do such act for near about one year!

- Why crime against poor is being ignored all the time and it is being ignored even after massacre?

- How many lives are required to wake-up the government, media, civil society and citizen about children’s life?

- Is police is appointed only for rich people and can act only when some CEO’s kid goes missing?

Our Action:

Since last two days we are investigating the whole issue. Team members are in constant touch with the families of missing children. We will keep our vice loud and clear for the justice of these people till they get the justice. The ignorance even after a big massacre is very dangerous and team recommends a nationwide campaign on this issue.

The Call for Nithari : Wakeup Before It is too late!

Here is the call letter from where we startd this fight for justice to poor.
This mail was sent few days ago to the people. :

---------------------------------------

Friends,
We are going to launch a campaign for the victims of Nithar massacre. Whatever happened in Nithari, is not yet another incident, which happen with the kids from poor families. The incident was not just matter of law and order; rather it was result of many factors. The implications and causes behind this hilarious act are very complicated, it include

- the growing unethical mass consume culture, where for the sake of self pleasure one can go up to any extent a direct consequence of adopting globalize culture
- the non-responsible behavior of our own elected political leaders, who allow and do all possible hilarious acts
- lackhs of children go missing every year, thousands of kids being sold in red lite area and farm houses
- Thousands of farmer have ended their own life because of poverty
- Uncontrolled killings of poor citizen of India by state in Nandigram and Singur, by Naxelites in Chhatisgarh

Each incidence is inter-related since poor are being targeted from all side, from state, from political violators and from criminals. It is high time to raise up the voice, when even media favor the rich. The great example is again from Noida only, the son of MNC’s CEO was kidnapped – whole media made it an international issue, which is surely appreciated but the same media acted hastily in mass kidnapping and killings of kids in Nithari! How easily CBI solved, media forgotten it, and civil society (if it exists) is forgetting it!
Friends, the kids of poor families are most exploited and vulnerable section of India. Almost three out of four children is being sexually and physically harassed. The situation is as grim as out of our imagination, if we really care of others pain and future of nation. Two Hundred million of children are at risk! Friends, raising voice if my first priority… however, one should not expect the same from others as we have personal and professional commitments. Same time we can at least raise the voice from our desk or we can join the movement on weekends. I hope we can make India’s future brighter: lete come together at Nithar this Sunday (22 April, 2007)
